The Half Marathon course starts near the Cathedral in St. Paul, runs down Summit Avenue into quiet St. Paul neighborhoods, threads a loop of the Mississippi before arriving at Get in Gear’s traditional Minnehaha Falls finish line.

  • Participants may place their gear and other items in the clear, plastic race bag provided at gear check. Race-day gear check will be marked with a flag and located near Packet Pick Up and the Start Line.

     

    Please take note of the following details related to this free, race-day service:   

    • Personal bags will not be accepted   

    • Clear, plastic bags will be available on race day  

    • Do NOT leave bags unattended on race day at any time   

    • Affix the gear check tag from race bib to the plastic bag using the tie provided at the gear check drop zone   

    • Tie bags securely shut before dropping at the gear check drop zone   

    • Do not check valuables, Twin Cities In Motion is not responsible for lost or stolen items   

    • Gear check opens at 7:00 a.m. at the Half Marathon start line

    • Gear check closes at 11:00 a.m.   

    • We discourage runners and spectators from carrying non-transparent bags at the event at any time 

  • The Start Line is located on 240 Summit Ave north of the intersection with Selby Ave, near the James J Hill House.

     

    Medtronic Half Marathon start area amenities, including parking, packet pick up, gear check and portable toilets, will open to participants at 7:30 A.M.

     

    Gear Check bags will be transported to the Gear Check Area in Minnehaha Regional Park and available for pick-up there beginning at 10:15 A.M. until Gear Check. Pick-up closes at 12:15 P.M.

  • We strongly encourage carpooling, biking, or using public transportation as parking is limited in the area. Be sure to allow plenty of time (45 minutes to an hour) between arrival and start time to walk to the packet pickup area, use toilets, check your gear, and prepare for the event.

    Public Transit: All registered participants and volunteers will have access to Metropolitan Council transportation (bus and light rail) at no charge on Saturday, April 26 (4 A.M. - 1 P.M.). To redeem, participants and volunteers can download the pass online, or print the pass, and present it to driver. Access the pass here.

    Getting to and from the Start Line: Half Marathon participants will park near the Start Area (240 Summit Ave, in front of the James J Hill House) and be bused back to the parking areas after finishing the half marathon.

     

    Designated Start Area Parking locations will open at 7:30 A.M., and participants are recommended to arrive to the Start Area at least 60-75 minutes in advance of the start if they are picking up their packet on race day and at least 45-60 minutes in advance of the start if they have picked up their packets in advance.

     

    Free buses back to the Start Area will run from the Finish Area at Minnehaha Regional Park beginning at 10:45 A.M., dropping off half marathon participants at the designated Start Area Parking locations, with the final bus departing at 12:30 P.M.

     

    Road Closure Information: Please note that the Ford Parkway and Franklin Avenue Bridges will be closed to vehicle traffic during the race starting at 7:45am and 8:30am respectively. They will re-open on a rolling basis.

  • Course Support: The Get in Gear Half Marathon will have fluid stations with water, Nuun Endurance, and toilets along course. Anderson's Pure Fuel will be available at approx. mile 8.25. For a full list of fluid station locations and course support information, click here

    Hiccup: 2025 Get in Gear fluid stations will be using reusable silicon cups provided by Hiccup. After runners use a cup on course, they’ll be asked to drop it in one of the large bins at the end of the fluid station or toss it to the side of the road as they would with a disposable cup.

    The Runtourage: Twin Cities In Motion celebrates all runners and walkers - whatever your pace. The Runtourage exists to provide a supportive and enthusiastic presence for our back of the pack participants. Look for our Runtourage volunteers toward the end of our races! Learn more here.

  • All kids 18 and under are welcome to run the Medtronic Half Marathon for free, and will receive the same amenities as adults.  To learn more about the TC Kids Run Free Program click here. 

  • Participants can submit their virtual results using this link

    Gear will be mailed to the shipping address provided at the time of registration by  5/9/25. Any changes to your address must be sent to [email protected] prior to 4/26/25. Additional charges or delays in shipping may apply for incorrect addresses. 

  • Age group awards will be available after you finish at the packet pick-up tent for categories of men, women and non-binary athletes placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in their age group. 5K awards will be available beginning at 9:30am, 10K at 9:15am, and the half marathon at 10:30am.

     

    Age groups include 8 & under, 9-13, 14-18, 19-24, and continue in five-year increments until the 80+ age group. Athletes registered under “prefer not to disclose” for gender are not eligible for age group awards.

     

    Prize money for the half marathon will be awarded to the top three men, women, and non-binary athletes.

    • Men's and Women's Open Divisions - 1st place $750, 2nd place $350, 3rd place $150

    • Non-binary Open Division - 1st place $500, 2nd place $250, 3rd place $100

     

    Complimentary entries to next years event will be awarded to the top 3 overall men, women, and non-binary athletes in the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon. Codes to register for the event will be sent out in December 2025. The alternative standard for a comped entry into the Get in Gear 10K and Get in Gear Medtronic Half Marathon is to have run an 85%+ age-graded performance in the last two years (there are only a limited number of these available).   • Friends and family are welcome to come to the race, bring a motivational sign, and watch and cheer on participants!

     

    As always, please be respectful of private property and do not enter the race course. Pedestrians are permitted to cross the course at intersections where race officials are present to direct foot traffic.
