  • At Twin Cities In Motion, we invite people to move with us whoever they are, wherever they’re headed, and for whatever moves them. We believe factors like experience-level, access, ability, or financial status shouldn’t be barriers to a movement journey.

In that spirit we offer the following adaptive Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon participation pathways for athletes with disabilities:

Duo Teams – Teams of four participants (one rider and three alternately pushing and protecting the athlete in the push-chair) to allow a participant without the ability to self-locomote the distance to participate in the event.

Guide Runners for the Visually Impaired – Teams of two runners (a visually impaired runner and a sighted guide-runner) to allow runners with visual impairments to safely navigate the course and among other participants.

    • For more information contact: Ed Whetham, Director of Event Operations ([email protected])

Handcycle Exhibition – New in 2024, TCM will assess safety considerations of handcycle participation with a limited number of selected athletes with disabilities participating with handcycles – i.e., wheeled conveyances with mechanical advantages.

    • For more information contact: Ed Whetham, Director of Event Operations ([email protected])

Professional Push-Rim Wheelchair Racing Division – Invited, individual athletes with disabilities who compete for awards and prize money in push-rim wheelchairs – i.e., wheelchairs that are propelled by pushing on the wheels of the chair without mechanical advantage.

    • For more information contact: Jim Estes, Profession Athlete Recruiter ([email protected])

The contacts listed above can share additional information about the pathways they manage, answer questions and assist in the application process. If you are an athlete with a disability who does not see a pathway that meets your needs, please contact [email protected] to explore opportunities with us.

We aim to support all movers because we believe that motion leads to more.

  • Twin Cities In Motion is proud to host top and emerging professional athletes in both the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Medtronic TC 10 Mile.  Please click here for all professional athlete information.

This year, Twin Cities In Motion is proud to offer extra support to emerging athletes who hope to represent the Midwest in international competition in the future through the expansion of its Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Professional Invited Athlete Prize Purse and the establishment of a $20,000 Best of the Midwest Invitational.
