Community Impact

In addition to offering events that get the community moving – a great thing in itself -- Twin Cities In Motion works to move for more through our various programs and services.

Additional first-year efforts of Raise the Community Pace

Optimizing 10 Mile Charity Use

The 10 mile registration change to a to first-come, first-served registration opening in March will leave fewer charity entries unused due to the longer interval between the opening of registration and the race itself.

Reducing Cost of Entries

The price charity teams pay for their fundraising entries will be reduced for both the 10 mile and Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon.

Adding Charity Team Entries

The initiative will add 150 charity fundraising entries to the TC Half Marathon for More, the charity-only race added to marathon weekend this year.

Increased Charity Team Support

TCM is committed to enhancing the resources it devotes to support charity teams to help them achieve better results in our events.

Increased Runner Support

Twin Cities In Motion is committing to raising awareness and support of charity running through its communication channels with inspirational and practical content for fundraising runners.

A Community in Motion

TCM makes its home in the Twin Cities Motion Center, co-officing with other motion-related nonprofits at a welcoming, run-friendly location along the Mississippi River. The Motion Center creates a new hub for community programs and services and a gathering place for local nonprofits for group runs and indoor gatherings.

Twin Cities Motion Center

Each year, dozens of charity organizations recruit teams to raise funds while participating in the Twin Cities In Motion events. Charity team runners raise more than $1-million annually for a variety of community causes, offering additional meaning to the miles they cover.

Charity Team Fundraising

Youth aged 18 and under run Twin Cities In Motion events free of charge. Since the TC Kids Run Free programs’ inception in 2022, more than 18,000 kids have been introduced to running and the rewards of movement through the groundbreaking program.

TC Kids Run Free

In partnership with local specialty run stores, TCM provides running shoes to high school cross country and track and field athletes in need. Since 2010, more than 500 athletes from schools across the Twin Cities metro area have benefitted from the program.

High School Running Shoe Program

TCM donates dozens of race entries to local nonprofits to use for fundraising and silent auctions. We’re please to assist other members of the nonprofit community with event entries.

Raise the Community Pace Initiative

As local charities face increasing challenges to secure funding and engage new donors, Twin Cities In Motion is launching the Raise the Community Pace initiative, a transformative effort to more than double its annual charity fundraising impact from $1 million to $2.62 million by 2028.

The ambitious plan intends to grow the number of race participants raising funds at Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events from 800 to 3,000 as well as increasing the roster of charity fundraising teams from 54 this year to 100 by the culmination of the campaign.

About the Twin Cities In Motion Charity Program

Twin Cities In Motion offers non-profit organizations the opportunity to fundraise and raise awareness through the Twin Cities In Motion Charity Program during Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend.

Charity Partners are provided guaranteed entries into the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and Medtronic TC 10 Mile to recruit participants for fundraising efforts. This special access allows organizations to tap into high-demand races, boost fundraising, and attract new donors.
