Chris's Tips to Get Your 2025 in Gear

Updated: 9 minutes ago

Happy New Year from TCM! We're asking our Motion Experts for three quick tips to help runners get their 2025 in gear.

Here are Minnesota Distance Elite coach and exercise scientist Chris Lundstrom's tips:

Set a Target – Having a goal or challenge somewhere in the not-too-distant future helps enhance your motivation and enjoyment of running.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone – If you are repeating the same things for long enough, you are likely getting the same results. To get to another level of health, fitness, or performance, you need to get a little outside of your comfort zone.

Take it One Day at a Time – It's easy to get overwhelmed when looking at a busy week on the calendar or a whole training block of hard workouts. Focus on doing your best to execute to the best of your ability on each day, and those more manageable chunks can add up to big improvements over time.

Why not get in gear for Get in Gear in 2025? Minnesota's Annual Rite of Spring features a 5K, 10K and the Medtronic Half Marathon running from the cathedral to Minnehaha Park.
