Registration for this fall’s Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend opens on Tuesday, March 4, at 10 a.m. CST. Event organizer Twin Cities In Motion expects more than 30,000 runners to enter one or more of the weekend’s races scheduled for October 4 and 5.
The launch of 2025 sign-up will include first come, first served registration for the popular Medtronic TC 10 Mile, which formerly conducted a summertime random registration drawing. This year’s race is capped at 12,700 entries, which race organizers expect to be claimed quickly.
In another change, the marathon, which will be capped at 9,125 runners, will extend its finish time limit by 30 minutes -- to six hours and 30 minutes – offering participants more time to finish their races and be acknowledged officially in results.
Registration will be conducted online through the Twin Cities In Motion website, tcmevents.org. In addition to the marathon and 10 mile which are run on Sunday, October 5, registration will also open for the following Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend events:
Those events take place at the State Capitol grounds on Saturday, October 5. At all Twin Cities In Motion events, youths run at no charge thanks to the TC Kids Run Free program which is supported by TCM Members and donors.
Focus on Charity Fundraising
Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend will also include the second edition of the TC Half Marathon for More, a charity fundraising-focused race limited to 400 runners who pledge to raise money for nonprofit causes, including Twin Cities In Motion’s own nonprofit mission.
In step with its recently announced Raise the Community Pace initiative, race organizer Twin Cities In Motion is asking runners to consider running their races for charity causes in 2025. Through the initiative, Twin Cities In Motion aims to triple the number of charity runners in its races and more than double the annual funds raised for nonprofits, targeting $2.62 million by 2028.
“We’re excited to engage runners in this meaningful way through charity and hope to see more participants running for more causes that matter,” Twin Cities In Motion President Dean Orton said. “Our goal is to continue offering incredible race experiences while supporting this weekend to mean even more – it’s also about building community and enhancing lives.”
As part of the Raise the Community Pace initiative, Twin Cities In Motion has lowered the cost of race entries for nonprofits participating in the charity program, added capacity to the TC Half Marathon for More, and is increasing the support it offers to charities teams and fundraising runners.
A Weekend of Running and Community
Anchored by the weekend’s signature 26.2-mile race dubbed the Most Beautiful Urban Marathon in America,® the weekend of running and fitness events will kick off on Friday, October 3, with the Health & Fitness Expo at St. Paul RiverCentre followed by races on Saturday and Sunday, October 4-5.
Registration will also open for the TC Loony and TC Ultra Loony Challenges – where the weekend’s most determined runners participate in the TC 5K and TC 10K prior to running either the Medtronic TC 10 Mile or marathon the following day.
“We’re eager to open registration and officially begin the journey to the 2025 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend,” Orton said. “The marathon already has more than 1300 eager entrants thanks to runners signing up during our early registration period last fall. We can already see there’s lots of excitement for this year’s marathon weekend and anticipate serving the community at sold-out levels for both Saturday & Sunday.”
