In our 40 years serving the community, we’ve learned that we improve when we move together. From uncertain first strides to bucket list marathons, from meditative miles to fun family runs, each step we take together advances us individually and collectively.
Who We Are
Our Vision:
A community that engages each other through movement, making for a healthier society both socially and physically.
We’re striding into the future with a new look and a new direction. We’re expanding programs, developing new services and continuing to create content that encourages people to move for more.
The aims of our new direction are clear and bold:
Our Rich Community History
Twin Cities In Motion originated in a grassroots effort to bring the energy and positivity of a community-wide running event to Minneapolis and St. Paul. From the first strides of the inaugural Twin Cities Marathon in 1982 through a rich history that saw the addition of events and programming to serve the community, TCM has inspired and empowered the Twin Cities toward the value and rewards of being in motion.
Meet Our Team
André Boone
Andre is a Digital Marketer with 8 years experience in event marketing on the international level. In his time as a event marketing coordinator, he has executed the booking, marketing, and day of event management of events in 18 different countries across Europe with sell out events in Germany, France, & Portugal. Beyond events, he enjoys bike riding, pinball, film, and concerts. His greatest source of enthusiasm is entertainment and the love connecting people with the things they enjoy most. Andre is happy to lend his skills to TCM and the broader running community.
Jenny Borgman
Jenny has such a love for the running community that she has found her dream job with Twin Cities In Motion. She has volunteered with Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon and has ran it twice. She's run various other races; mud runs and an Ultra Ragnar - which she says is her craziest running event she's ever done. Jenny spends her time playing and walking their dogs (Rex, Rumble & Reese) and the oh-so fun game of wondering what she will find chewed up when she gets home every day. Now that they have moved out to the country, she enjoys watching the sun come up and getting home and watching the sunset.
Mallory Burns
Originally from Houston, Mallory is excited to call the Twin Cities home after moving from Texas to North Carolina to Ireland and now to Minnesota! After working in college admissions, Mallory transitioned to the nonprofit space and discovered a passion for social media and digital engagement as a tool to advance an organization’s mission. She has worked youth services, education policy, and is thrilled to now apply this passion to TCM alongside so many passionate individuals at TCM, and to work at an organization that encourages people to discover how movement is connected to one’s overall health. Outside of work, you can find her reading, walking, writing, and snuggling with her cat, Cosmo.
Alana Dillinger
After leaving the world of New York finance, Alana started as an intern with Twin Cities In Motion in 2022 and has stayed with the organization as the events coordinator. She graduated from Gonzaga University with an applied math degree and worked as an analyst for a few years before pursuing a career in endurance events and is happy to have found a way to combine her work with her love for running.
Alana is a Colorado native and recently moved to the Minnesota in 2021. Growing up in Colorado cultivated her deep passion for the outdoors. She loves running and hiking especially in the mountains and is an advocate for sustainable living. Her interest in running and athletics led Alana to become a certified Nutritional Therapy Practitioner in 2023. She loves to chat about all things health and nutrition and loves to spend her time in the kitchen cooking delicious food to fuel her running adventures!
Allison Greenlee
After spending over a decade in Student Affairs at Macalester College and several years with the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition managing events and advocating for safter streets, Allison is excited to bring her experiences to TCM. She has a passion for developing educational and social programs and found the perfect role in coordinating programs at the Motion Center. Her goals are to exemplify TCM's values by planning fun and diverse programming that is welcoming and inclusive to all. Allison is not a stranger to TCM, she completed her first marathon in 2008 and is now a 6 time Twin Cities marathon finisher. Outside of work you'll find Allison biking, running or planning her next adventure with her wife Tanya, and their sweet pup Greta.
Kelli Haapala
Kelli is a former Twin Cities In Motion intern, volunteer, and participant. She joined the full-time staff in August of 2012 after serving as the Outreach Coordinator at Bolder Options. Her responsibilities at TCM include recruiting and organizing the 5,000 volunteers needed to manage our year-round events.
Kelli grew up in Shoreview, MN, graduated from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a degree in Sport Management, and now resides in Duluth. Kelli has a passion for running and participated in the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in 2009 (her first of many) and loves spending time with her favorite people in the world: her husband, Greg, her two daughters, Lyla, and Kinley, and golden retriever, Gracie!
Kasey Herbster
Born in Minnesota, raised in South Dakota, Kasey made her way back to the Twin Cities to receive a Bachelors degree in marketing with a minor in design. Choosing to stay in the Twin Cities after graduating was an easy decision for her as she considers Minnesota her one true home. Kasey began working for TCM in March of 2024 as the Leadership Team Coordinator and Portfolio Specialist. Her background in athletics as well as her hyper organization skills made the position feel like a natural next step in life. Although athletics has always been a major part of Kasey's life, distance running has not always been her forte. In the past she participated in soccer, basketball, and short distance track events. Currently she rock climbs, bikes, and reminds herself why she's not great at distance running with short, asthma filled, 2 mile runs. Kasey also enjoys reading, Facetiming her two beautiful/goofy sisters, and over accommodating to her cat Booger (yes that's his legal name).
Mia Litman
Mia, a 2023 graduate of the University of Minnesota Hubbard School of Journalism, holds a degree in Strategic Communications, specializing in Advertising and Public Relations. Appointed as the 2024 Social Media and Marketing Intern at Twin Cities in Motion in January, Mia brings experience in digital marketing and journalism.
A Twin Cities native and a passionate Golden Gopher fan, Mia's journey in strategic communications began after transferring from Miami University of Ohio. She developed her leadership skills as a Coxswain on Miami's rowing team and has a passion for athletics, including volleyball and softball. Despite not being an avid runner, Mia enjoys long walks, yoga, and Pilates. When not at TCM, Mia can be found working at Anthropologie, volunteering at the Tri County Humane Society, and listening to Taylor Swift's latest hits with her cat, Remi. Ski U Mah!

A spectator at the first Twin Cities Marathon in 1982, Charlie won the inaugural Medtronic TC 10 Mile in 1999 and served the organization in various capacities prior to joining the staff in 2012. Charlie enjoys running, reading, cycling, playing the banjo, and being active in the outdoors.
Nichelle Middleton

Her responsibilities include the setup and maintenance of the registration system as well as the resulting data and analytics. On race days, you can find her at the Registration Tent making sure shirts and bibs end up in the right hands. Nichelle is looking forward to putting her enjoyment of event management and logistics to good use.
Nichelle is originally from Chicago, IL but has been living in the Twin Cities for almost 20 years. She has a degree in Management Information Systems, from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. Nichelle enjoys bike riding around the many lakes and parkways in Minneapolis. She also has a passion for travel, including a recent trip to Egypt which included a cruise down the Nile River. Currently, she is working on a goal to visit all 50 states, only 7 more left to visit.
Isaac Milkey
Isaac is a born Wisconsinite, and holds close to his roots with the love for beer and cheese curds. He is an avid trail runner during the warm months, and nordic skier when the snow comes down. When he isn’t out on the trails, you can find him running after his two daughters. Isaac also loves to check out local breweries and ice cream shops, as well as do anything outdoors (hike, bike, camp, skiing - you name it) with his wife, Jessica.
Isaac has been within the endurance sports industry, professionally, since 2013. He joined TCM in 2019 after spending 6 years working for other race organizations within the Twin Cities. Isaac is thrilled to work for TCM and bring his relationship building and event operations skills to the team as Partnerships and Events Manager.
Colleen O'Connell
Number crunching is the name of the game for Colleen! Colleen's duties range from managing company budgets to last-minute, emergency snow-clearing on race morning! Colleen joined the team in December 2013, coming to TCM from many years at REI.
An avid runner, Colleen can often be found around the Saint Paul trails with her running group training for one of her marathons or half marathons. When she isn't laced up, she can be found cozied up on the couch with a good show, a good book, and some good wine!
Dean Orton

On non-race days you will find him designing courses, course site plans or working with local and state agencies and vendors.
In his free time, he also enjoys spending time with his German Shorthair Pointer walking, hiking, scent training or playing at the dog park. The two now participate in canicross, cross country style running while being pulled dog(s). You may catch him also geeking out on the latest Star Wars movie, tv show, book or podcast.
Jessie Sand
Jessie Sand joined Twin Cities In Motion in August 2017. Jessie’s passion for wellness only comes second to the joy she feels seeing others achieve the goals they set for themselves. With a strong background in the corporate wellness space, Jessie has led strategic communication and product development efforts for companies like Life Time and StayWell (now WebMD Ignite).
These days, most of Jessie’s running is done when chasing her two boys from one ice arena or ballfield to another. Besides her two boys, Jessie’s other passions include having a bit of a green thumb, hiking, and all things outdoors.
